<p><strong>Battery Management Systems – Controls Engineer Responsibilities:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Development of battery management system software algorithms in Mathworks’ Matlab/Simulink environment</li>
<li>Communication with the Test &amp; Development team on cell testing requirements to feed battery models/maps</li>
<li>Support the Test &amp; Development team during battery system commissioning sign-off</li>
<li>Able to be flexible on work location and prepared to travel within the UK and internationally on short assignments</li>
<li>Documenting &amp; reporting battery system architecture &amp; algorithm developments to the Head of Battery Management Systems</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Battery Management Systems – Controls Engineer Requirements:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Knowledge of battery system architectures and battery management systems</li>
<li>Experience of using model-based development languages such as Matlab &amp; Simulink</li>
<li>Knowledge of battery system algorithms such as state of charge, state of power, state of health, state of function, fault diagnostics, contactor control etc.</li>
<li>Ability to generate battery system commissioning &amp; validation sign-off plans</li>
<li>Data analysis &amp; reporting on system performance</li>
<li>Proactive, self-motivated with a keen attention for detail</li>
<li>Willing to learn new skills &amp; problem solve on exciting, technically challenging projects</li>
<li>Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline</li>
<li>Experience of working on HaV systems, particularly in HaV battery packs at 400/800V</li>
<li>Familiar with laboratory equipment and test facilities</li>
<li>Experience in compliance engineering to external standards, such as battery handling, EMC, vehicle safety, functional safety IS026262 etc.</li>
<li>Familiar with measurement, calibration &amp; diagnostic CAN software tools such as Vector’s software suite (CANalyser, CANape, CANoe).</li>
<li>Exposure to other coding languages (C, C++, C#, Python)</li>
<li>Familiar with good software practices, coding standards, version control/management, issue tracking, and testing</li>
<li>Basic knowledge of electronics &amp; embedded microcontrollers (Texas Instruments, STMicroelectronics, NXP, Analogue Devices)</li>
